  • 250 grams Chicken (bone-in or boneless) cleaned
  • 1 tbsp Oil preferably coconut or olive oil
  • 1 Onion sliced
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Carrot diced
  • 1 Potato cubed
  • 1/4 cup Green peas
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper powder adjust to taste
  • 1 Green chilli slit
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves chopped

Equipment

  • Pressure cooker or deep pan

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add sliced onions and sauté until light golden.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and stir for 30 seconds until aromatic.
  3. Mix in tomatoes and cook until soft.
  4. Add chicken pieces and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes on medium heat.
  5. Add turmeric, pepper, salt, green chilli, carrots, potatoes and peas. Mix well.
  6. Pour water and close the lid. Pressure cook for 2 whistles or simmer for 20 minutes in a covered pan.
  7. Open the cooker, gently mix and check seasoning. Add coriander leaves before serving.

Notes

For extra flavour, add a small piece of cinnamon or a few curry leaves while sautéing.
