  • 2 cups Makhana (fox nuts) lightly roasted
  • 1 cup Fresh grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery powder adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp Chopped nuts almonds or pistachios

Equipment

  • Non-stick pan
  • Mixer grinder
  • Spatula
  • Square tin or plate

Method
 

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and roast the makhana on low flame until crisp. Let them cool and grind into a coarse powder.
  2. In the same pan, add grated coconut and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes on low heat.
  3. Add jaggery powder and let it melt completely. Cook until the mixture starts to thicken.
  4. Mix in the makhana powder and cardamom. Stir well so everything comes together like a soft dough.
  5. Grease a plate, spread the mixture evenly, and press it down firmly. Sprinkle nuts on top and gently press.
  6. Let it cool for 30 minutes, then cut into barfi pieces.

Notes

For a richer taste, add a spoon of milk powder. Store the barfi in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
